Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Hip arthroscopy has emerged as a successful option for the treatment of femoroacetabular impingement and related hip disorders, but the procedure is technically challenging.
PURPOSE:
To define the learning curve through which surgeons become proficient at hip arthroscopy.
CONCLUSION:
The learning curve for hip arthroscopy was unexpectedly demanding. Cases performed by surgeons with career volumes ≥519 had significantly lower risk of subsequent hip surgery than those performed by lower-volume surgeons.

Resumen
ANTECEDENTES:
La artroscopia de cadera se ha convertido en una opción exitosa para el tratamiento del choque femoroacetabular y los trastornos de la cadera relacionados, pero el procedimiento es técnicamente difícil.
PROPÓSITO:
Para definir la curva de aprendizaje a través del cual los cirujanos se vuelven competentes en la artroscopia de cadera.
CONCLUSIÓN:
La curva de aprendizaje para la artroscopia de cadera fue inesperadamente exigente. Los casos realizados por cirujanos con volúmenes de carrera ≥519 tuvieron un riesgo significativamente menor de cirugía de cadera posterior que los realizados por cirujanos de bajo volumen.
